Year 3 -8 June 2026 -Grand Baie- Mauritius

We all woke about 7.00am and had a cup of tea etc. I checked my messages and Keith Winstanley said he had arrived and was through immigration at 6.08 am some 40 minutes early. This was earlier then expected. I had arranged for a taxi man to go there to meet him and hoped they would meet.

We therefore decided to go ashore at about 8.15am. My guess was that Keith would arrive about 8.45am. Once ashore we had a shower and cleaned ourselves up and waited for the kitchen to open which was 9.00am. As anticipated Keith arrived about 8.45am and he therefore came and joined us on the terrace and we all had a full English breakfast, apart from Hisham who had fried eggs on toast and toast and papaya jam.

We had a long lazy breakfast which was nice and so we took our time catching up.

However, Hisham had arranged an eye appointment at 11.00as as he had been seeing a sort of shadow in his eye. We therefore went back to Stormbird so Keith could settle in and Hisham, Joyce and I returned ashore so we could so some more provisioning.

We then drove off in the car to Super U, the large supermarket nearby. Hisham went off to his appointment and Joycie and I went shopping. We spent I suppose an hour or more shopping and it was not a bad supermarket. We got everything back to the dinghy. Hisham joined us and his eye was fine. It was just a floater and it will go. We transported all the shopping to Stormbird and packed it away.

The ladies prepared lunch as it was that time and we had an enjoyable lunch. It was then time to sort out refuelling. We got out the jerry cans and put the 100lts  contents into then port tank. We then went ashore and filled the jerry cans twice and put them in the tanks meaning about 300 lts. When we went to fill up the jerry cans again they were shut so we will have to do this tomorrow.

As a result of all the difficult work we had done we had a sundowner and beer on the aft deck even though it was quite windy and grey.

I got out the cobb (type of barbecue) and we cooked the aubergines first and then we cooked the steaks we had bought and we then had a good supper with the salad that had been prepared.

We had a busy but productive day and it was great that Keith was back again. We may explore more tomorrow.

The picture of the day is of sunset.
