Year 3 -10 April 2026 –Anhenunfushi -Baa Atoll- Viha Faru-South Miladhunmadlu Atoll -Maldives

We woke at a reasonable time and it was another lovely day but with no wind. We sat some 150 yards off the island.

We were going to refuel again by jerry can so I had to get out the 12v fuel pump I have and the special filter.  I contacted Japs and told him we were ready and the guys brought 7 x 30 ltr containers and we then gradually put this into the port tank. I had already pumped from the port tank into the starboard tank which was full. The 210 lts went into the tank. I had estimated I needed about 400 lts and once the 210 lts had gone I the dial said the tank was only 50%. I therefore asked them to bring another 6 containers which they did.

We then put in another 2 containers but when we were on the third the port tank became full so I topped up the starboard tank and so we were completely full. I therefore returned 3.5 containers. I think we must have put in 285-300lts in total.

Whilst bringing out the fuel the guys also brought out 4 large boxes which contained melons -water melons -pink and yellow, papaya, spinach, lettuces, basil, kale, pak choy, bok choy. This was very generous of them and great to have some produce from the farm we had visited. This will last us some time and we were beginning to run out of fresh vegetables. A boat also brought out a bag and they had made toasted tuna sandwiches for breakfast. They were delicious.

Whilst we were refuelling Parth, Jose and his team came to say goodbye as they left for the airport.

Once we had refuelled we decided to leave for an anchorage some 28 nm away on the South Miladhunmadulu atoll as it was on the way to an anchorage we wanted to go to which had an abandoned resort.

We slipped the mooring and motored round the reef of Anhenunfushi which had been a great stop. We could see a number of islands which had resorts on which we passed on the way to our destination. There was no wind so we had to motor and I did so slowly about 5-6kts to limit fuel consumption. There were a few clouds around but otherwise it was hot and calm.

We got both fishing rods out and motored slowly. Unfortunately we did not catch anything again.

At about 4.30pm we came into the atoll and could see an inhabited island to our right and we came passed this. We then motored up to anchor on the edge of a small atoll which surrounded a lagoon which you could not enter. The water was lovely and blue.

We anchored in about 10m on sand and once settled we all went for a cooling swim and snorkel. We were about 100m off the reef and the water was lovely and clear. There were not many fish around and I suspect they were all on the reef.

We sat on the aft deck and had a sundowner as the sun went down below the island west of us. Miranda and Cari decided to make a pesto with all the basil we had been given. As we had caught no fish we made pasta pesto and a lovely green salad from the variety of lettuces we had.

We had moved on from the excitement of yesterday and we now had a week before J & Miranda gets off. We were full of fuel and had plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables.

We will move on to the abandoned resort lagoon tomorrow.
