Year 2- 4 September 2025 –Sebayur Besar – chilled day

It was a lovely morning when we woke and we enjoyed our breakfast whilst watching the day warm up. We could see that the large yacht Silver Lining was preparing to leave. We had a leisurely breakfast and Silver Lining left and then Nautilos left as well. I was on the bow when a lovely turtle surfaced and sort of said hello and disappeared under the water again.

It was a beautiful clear blue-sky day and I had quite a bit of admin to do so I got on with it whilst Mark read.  Once I had enough we got the dinghy down and as we did so I smelt some gas. The regulator for the new Indonesian gas cylinder was leaking. It was probably some cheap Chinese regulator. We got out my gas bits but could not get any combination to fit. We will just have to wait until I can get another. Annoying but there it is.

We decided to go off for a swim and snorkel and went to the reef nearby and anchored the dinghy some 50m from Stormbird. The coral was in excellent condition and as a result there was lots of fish life and a variety of lovely colours – bright blue, light blue, silver and white, yellow, brown etc etc. We snorkelled for about 30 minutes and I got some good Go pro footage.

We returned to Stormbird and had a snorkel round her and the guys had done a good job cleaning the hull. However, there were a few bits which I scrubbed. I then swum under and cleared the speed log which had stopped again. I also noticed a few shell-like structures in the skin fittings (the values through the hull) and so I got a spike and cleared them all out as otherwise they would stop the skin fittings working properly. I therefore felt quite good as a result and we got back on board for a late lunch.

We relaxed after lunch and had a siesta and watched the world go by with various boats coming and going. We then had an evening drink and watched the sun go down with a fantastic sunset. I then cooked a spaghetti bolognaise with sweetcorn which we enjoyed. We listened to music and enjoyed the evening. I had spoken to a number of members of the family following the service which was comforting and nice.  It was one of those rare days where we are not going anywhere and can just enjoy the moment and be. Quite nice every now and then when normally I have to move on.

The picture of the day is another view from Sebayur Besar.
