Year 2 -29 June 2025  – Breakwater Marina- Townsville- More Jobs Day

It rained a lot in the night and we had to close the hatches and listen to the drops on the deck and hatches. Despite this it was a good night’s sleep. We had a cooked breakfast which was enjoyable.

We decided to go and buy some of the dry and non-fresh items from the supermarket which took us a couple of hours but we felt good that we have done it and it will save us time for the big shop. Mark then decided after breakfast to fill the water tanks. I prepared the cabins for our future crew in terms of cleaning and making sure everything was ready. It was then time for lunch and although it had been cloudy it was actually quite warm.

After lunch I did an inventory of all the medical equipment we have on board. This is required for the Indonesian authorities when we get there and also I needed to remind myself of what we have should we need it. It was an interesting exercise to undertake and Ben, my cousin who helped design it would be pleased and I hope will help me work out what some medicines we have actually do. It is almost like a cottage hospital!!

We then setting about cleaning the topsides of the boat and deck which took some time and a lot of elbow grease. We were then ready for some tea.

Once we had enough we had a drink in the cockpit wondering how our crew were getting on in terms of their travel and hope they are on time to join us tomorrow. I cooked steak au poivre (pepper sauce) with broccoli and courgettes which if I may say so was good. We had strawberries and cream for dessert. A great supper.

As we are relaxing and preparing for bed the rain is beginning to return. The picture of the day is Stormbird showing her nose at the end of the B pontoon.  We hope they will fix the freezer tomorrow etc.
