Year 2 -27-28 December 2025 -La Flora -Koh Lak -Thailand

27 December 2025

 We had a long leisurely breakfast as it was Francesca’s last day and we enjoyed the beach and the lovely view of the Andaman Sea. Francesca’s flight had been changed to an earlier flight. She therefore relaxed in the morning and then she and Rosanna had a massage at 12.00noon and then we all had lunch on the beach. Francesca got her taxi at 2.00pm and we later heard she made her flight to Bangkok and she then later caught her flight to London.

After lunch we swam and then Jules taught yoga online at 4.00pm. Isabel, Rosanna and I went to the market and I got Francesca an incense holder she wanted and the girls got some wooden bowls which were nice made out of mango wood. I also got some more Thai pastes which I thought would be useful on the boat.

We returned for showers and we had a sundowner on the beach and the walked up the road to supper at the Amici, Italian restaurant. We all wanted something different than Thai food even though it can be delicious. It had been another relaxing day and we were now 4.

 28 December 2025

 We had another leisurely breakfast on the beach and Rosanna had been to the gym. Isabel and Rosanna were leaving today and were getting a taxi at 4.30pm.

After breakfast we swam and rested. It was a greyish day today with the threat of rain.  

The morning passed quite quickly and then the girls had a good lunch on the beach for the last time. Rosanna helped me with sorting out the blogs for year 3 and adaptations for the website so I can continue as normal.  

They had a shower at 4.00pm and caught their taxi at 4.30pm.

Jules and I were suddenly on our own again and it rained for about 30 minutes quite hard which cleared the air. It had been a lovely time with Francesca, Isabel and Rosanna but it had gone so fast which was a shame but we all had a great time and a different Christmas in the warm. It had been lovely to see them and for us all to spend some time together.  

We had been invited by the hotel for cocktails at 6.00pm and I assumed we could have what we liked. However no, they made two mocktails (non-alcoholic) which I thought was a bit of a swizz. We watched the sunset and had supper on the beach in the hotel which was easy and there was the threat of more rain.   

We have two more days on our own before Jules flies home on New Year’s eve and I return to Stormbird.

Need/Opportunity Year Three

In year three I will be going from Thailand to Sri Lanka, India, Maldives and then on to Mauritius, Reunion, Cape Town, St Helena, Azores and back to the UK. 

I am looking for crew from Mauritius/ Reunion Island to Cape Town and from Cape Town to the UK. If of any interest do email me.
