Year 2 -20-21 December 2025 -La Flora -Koh Lak -Thailand
We woke to a pleasant morning and the sun was shining and we had a good breakfast. There was quite a spread which we enjoyed.
We walked on to the beach and there was a plastic pier which undulated with the waves and there was a catamaran moored at the end and a speed boat. We walked along the pier which was interesting as you had to deal with the undulations of the waves as the pier moved with them. We went to the Catamaran and then invited us on board. They explained that they do trips to Koh Nah Yak a local promontory which was a possibility for us.
We spoke to the hotel about trips for things we could do with my daughters when they arrive. We decided that a day trip to the Sirin Islands was probably best as they have the best coral there and more turtles to see although it is further out. We therefore booked it for the 24th December. We also booked a trip to the Elephant sanctuary for the 26th. The hotel is doing a huge buffet on the evening of the 24th so we will see if the kids are interested in that when they arrive.
We chilled out and swam in the pool outside our room. I continued to do emails and sort out agency issues for India this time and the requirements for visiting Chagos.
We had a light lunch in the sun overlooking the beach and then rested. We then walked out to the local area and saw the restaurants the reception staff recommended. We also saw lots of clothing shops, massage suites, tattoo parlours, excursion stalls and some food shops selling fresh fruit etc. Some of restaurants looked good and worth thinking about. We had a drink at a local bar and watched the world go by before heading back to our hotel for supper.
21 December 2025
Overnight we got some messages. Rosanna and Isabel’s flight was delayed and they had to run for their connecting flight but got it in time. They were due to arrive in Phuket about midday. Francesca’s flight was also delayed and then she was told that her connecting flight time had been changed from 2.00am to 8.00pm which would mean she would not get to Phuket until 06.50am on the 22nd- a day late. Luckily this changed and she got on another flight meaning she would arrive by 6.45pm.
Jules and I had a leisurely breakfast with lovely weather and we overlooked the sea sparkling away. Even though there are lots of Christmas decorations it did not feel like Christmas.
We then chilled and read and we then had our complimentary Thai massage which was quite tough really. It is not the most relaxing type of massages and sometimes the pressure is too great.
We had a light lunch and Isabel and Rosanna arrived at about 2.50pm but without their luggage. It had not made it but was going to be on a later flight and it should be delivered to the hotel that evening some time.
They had 2 rooms which interconnected with sea views which was nice. We then walked out to the local area and R got a costume and Iz a dress. We had a relaxing afternoon with them and an early drink and supper at the hotel.
Francesca landed on time and arrived at the hotel with her luggage at about 8.45pm and I had supper with her at the restaurant. At least they were all here and had an early night.
The picture of the day is supper with Isabel and Rosanna before Francesca’s arrival.
