Year 2- 10 September 2025 –A day at Pulau Moyo

We went to bed in the damp and woke in the dry. It was a very different day and all was still, apart from the odd canoe/fisherman going about his daily routine. One of them came to see us and got out an official form and asked me for 200,000 IDR to anchor. I tried to explain we have never been charged before. I used a translation app on my phone and spoke Baharsi to him. In the end we settled on 100,000 -about £4.50 and he seemed happy and I had the form showing I had paid. I read on an app No Foreign Land that this is starting to happen in this area.

We got the dinghy down and I made some bread. It did not rise as much as normal and I think it is because I am using the flour I bought in Nuku Hiva – French Polynesia and the quality may not be right. I then got to looking and preparing for the rest of our time in Indonesia with various crew additions etc. I also looked at Malaysia and have been communicating with an agent there and as to where we would stop as went up its West coast. This takes quite a bit of time but it has to be done.

Mark cleaned out the fridge and we both did various jobs. We both had a swim off the back and could see the anchor chain laid out and the anchor in the sand.

We thought we would got to the Amanwara Resort, a 5 star hotel, which was a mile away and see if we could get lunch.  We set off in the dinghy and as we arrived at the pontoon it had we were met by two boat boys who said yes we could have lunch. We could see guests sitting out on chairs and the villas had a tent like structure over them. They were in fact solid air-conditioned buildings but with a tented roof as a sort of theme.

We were led to a covered dining area with open sides and it was made with lovely wood and we had a wonderful view of the bay in front of us. We had a set lunch for US$70 which was nice-spring rolls, fried fish with vegetables and rice and a strawberry cake and honeycomb ice cream. It was a good meal with very attentive service. We were then shown one of the rooms which was quite large with proper windows and air conditioning. There were seating areas at the front and then a large bed with a shower and bathroom behind. I think it was about £450 a night with full board and free transfers. The resort has a reef in front of it, a spa, gym and bikes and Kayaks etc. You could do a whale shark trip from here and other excusions.

We had a lovely afternoon and then returned to Stormbird for a siesta. I then set about rewiring the water maker. This was a terrible job but I managed it. I then put the generator on and tried it and it seems to be working thank god.

We were so full so we decided to miss supper. We aim to move round the corner tomorrow to a bay with a village -Labuan Ati where you can walk to some waterfalls which will be nice.

The picture of the day is Mark and I at the Amanwara Resort.
