Year 2 -10 May 2025 -More Hunkering Down in Stonehaven Anchorage

It was another wet and windy night and we woke to bullets, rain and a dreary day. A good, cooked breakfast cheered us up and we then had a good coffee and watched the rain coming down vertically and moving horizontally. The wind was supposed to reduce slightly by the afternoon and so we thought we would review whether we move on in the afternoon.

I got along with more admin and sorted out a lot of things. I am now contacting agents regarding Thailand and Sri Lanka and beyond for example. I have been ordering some parts which I may need in Indonesia – e.g. fuel filters etc. I am also dealing with crew going forward. Others read and chilled and we watched the rain come down. The wind would move us around quite a bit. Some yachts would come and go but there was no point in moving on unless we had a decent anchorage/mooring. We had lunch and then assessed the situation and if anything, the weather was worse. I did not think we should move and I think this was the right decision and proved to be. The wind and rain got worse and we moved around a lot. We decided to stay and watched the film The Secret Lives of Walter Mitty which everyone seemed to enjoy. It is light and has some fantastic scenes and views of different parts of the world.

I tidied up some cupboards and checked the engine room and there were various jobs. We then had a raindowner again and I heated up the rest of the chilli and red cabbage which went down well. Due to the weather, we eat inside for the first time in a long while and had a great chat about how we solve various problems in the UK. We put the world to rights.

The weather is supposed to get a little better overnight and we shall then hopefully move on.  We have enjoyed just being but you can only do that so long.

Need/Opportunity Year Three

In year three I will be going from Thailand to Sri Lanka, India, Maldives and then on to Chagos, Mauritius, Reunion, Cape Town, St Helena, Azores and back to the UK.  I am looking for crew from Reunion to Cape Town and from Cape Town to the UK. If of any interest do email me.

The blog will continue as we continue the journey. If you have any comments or suggestions about the blog then do email me on hine.nick9@gmail.com
